Rally against ICE in Orange County: 1/29/26

We have all watched in horror as untrained, unqualified thugs receiving federal paychecks murder innocent Americans, and brutalize hundreds or thousands more. Adding to that horror is the knowledge that the Trump Administration has proposed constructing a new ICE detention facility (in other words, a concentration camp) in the Village of Chester.

On January 28, the NAACP Middletown Branch issued a press release condemning this proposal in the strongest possible language. We are pleased that many of our local officials already oppose ICE’s further intrusion into our community, but we want to add our voice so they know where we stand.

On Thursday, January 29, we will attend the press conference and rally planned by Rural and Migrant Ministry, at 5:30 PM in Town Commons Park (81 Laroe Road in Chester). Congressman Pat Ryan, Town of Chester Supervisor Brandon Holdridge, and Orange County Legislator Genesis Ramos are scheduled to attend, along with other community leaders and impacted residents.

The NAACP is not an organizer of this event, but we will be in attendance and we strongly encourage all of our members and supporters to join.
