The NAACP Middletown Branch is very sad to share the news that Terry Anderson died on Saturday, April 20, at his home in Greenwood Lake. Terry was a passionate community activist and was one of the individuals chiefly responsible for reactivating the Middletown Branch. He devoted much of his time in 2023 and 2024 spreading the word about the branch reactivating and collecting the needed members to make that reactivation a reality.

Terry Anderson was a veteran and journalist, and spent nearly seven years as a hostage in Lebanon from 1985-1991. He was an active member of several community groups and a crusader for civil rights. His obituary in the New York Times goes into more detail about his life.

Our thoughts are with his family. Terry will be deeply missed.
